Tanatologie

Thanatology

Passing

But a few centuries old and controversial – the near-death research which illuminates the blurred liminal space between life and death.

In the brief rending of the veil between no-longer-alive and not-yet-dead are events portrayed in coinciding images: floating above one’s own deathbed, appearances of lights on the horizon, or the crossing of a canal of light. Or is it all only neurobiology?

Ketamine, given as a drug, produces images closely resembling the near-death experience.

We are pleased by the progress of the thanatologists.

Vocal Piece for Passing

No desire to dwell on death

Life is not eternity

Fear shall steer us on its path

If we go not far go we

Light is the marking on the stage

with lowered gaze the soul peers on

To grant our deaths is not for us

dying is the lesser part

to suppose a light is great enough

we stand by grandly in the dark

Love is the principal of the stagepiece

The drive to live makes up the audience

Love

The former refuses thoughts of death

The latter puts his affairs in order

Faith will deviate the step

if they go they go together

The audience has once again unlearned a piece of life

At the box office the deathbells jingle merrily

The light goes on

and fear heads out

oh heart keep on beating
